Get to know Olivia!

My name is Olivia Higgins and I am a freelance wedding harpist and harp instructor in the northern MD and southern PA areas.

I began my harp studies at the age of ten under the guidance of Elaine Bryant and I quickly fell in love with the harp. Throughout high school I played  in recitals, church programs, and with the Frederick Symphony Orchestra.

After high school I attended Gettysburg College Sunderman Conservatory where I was awarded the Wagnild Music Scholarship.  I completed my Bachelors of Music  in Harp Performance and business minor in 2019 and immediately started Higgins Harp Studio.

I began performing for wedding ceremonies during college and fell in love with helping couples create their dream wedding through the music I play. Over the past 5 years, I have played for a variety of events and would love to help you create a personalized package for your next event!

Services: Wedding Ceremony Violin and Harp

I hired Olivia to surprise my now wife on our wedding day and it worked perfectly! Olivia was very open to different music genres and selections that I had in mind. She was able to book a violinist to accompany her for an additional fee. Both fees were very affordable compared to other musicians. The harp looked absolutely amazing and the combo with the violinist brought such a magical feel to the already magical ceremony. My wife was very excited when she walked down the aisle and saw where the beautiful music was coming from. Thank you for making our wedding one of a kind!

Private Instruction

Currently, I have a private music studio located in Union Bridge, MD where I teach just over 20 students ranging from age 7 to adult.  Though most of my lessons are conducted in person, I do have options for virtual lessons as well.
While under my instruction, students will work to build a strong technical foundation and develop expressive musicality. This journey will include a fundamental curriculum that will continue to challenge the student and an assortment of pieces that cater to the interest of each individual student's goals.

Lesson Rates:

30 minute lessons are $25 per lesson

45 minute lessons are $38 per lesson

60 minute lessons are $50 per lesson.

Rental Harps:

I do have a few rental harps to interested students.

Please contact her for harp rental availability and other rental/purchase options

Private Instruction FAQ

Do I need to know how to read music before studying the harp?

Though knowing how to read music prior to lessons is most definitely helpful, it is not a requirement to take lessons. Learning how to read music is a skill that new students will learn during their first few harp lessons and will continue to strengthen throughout their time in my studio.
